TRAVEL | prague II

Last week I spent a spontaneous weekend in Prague. My { last visit } always felt a bit too rushed so I decided to return to Prague for round two because I would be crazy to not take advantage of the fact that I live so close now.

Luckily for me a fellow SCAD student was also in town, so I met up with him and his friends for a night of drinking the first night, and casual stroll around the city the second day. Safe to say that this experience outdid the last by a longshot!

I definitely did more walking this time. I think of the reasons is that I'm a little more
fit/healthy this time around haha. It was actually really nice to have the time to explore
more of the city on foot.

Naturally, I returned to Lokal, the food hall that serves a lot of classic Czech dishes.
Everything is pretty affordable so I went for dishes that were new to me and also dishes
that sounds like something I would not able to replicate at home. Pictured above is the
rabbit with mushrooms.

TRAVEL | dresden + hrensko

Roman and I decided to take a trip back in early September. Roman proposed a hiking up { Pravčická brána } in Czech Republic and {Sächsische Schweiz} in Germany, so we kind of planned our short holiday around those hikes. On the first day we stopped in Dresden to explore the city.

We arrived late in the afternoon so there wasn't much sunlight left in the day for us to explore. All I remember is that I made the terrible call of finding food after we go sightseeing even though I was starving so those first couple hours were kind of a blur. When we eventually went for dinner we found a { great little place } next to our hostel that served amazing pulled pork sandwiches.

We arrived in Hrensko on day two. The motobike ride was really short--only about an hour and a half--so we still had a lot of energy for hike number 1. Our first trail, Pravčická brána, was only supposed to be 14-16km. But due to our lack of knowledge one of the trails leading back to our village closed at 6pm (we arrived at 6:10pm) which led us take the longest detour ever back to our hotel.

There are a few android photos here from Roman's phone since I didn't want to lug my canon around during our climbs. And with what happened during day 1, I'm so glad that I didn't haha.

TRAVEL | cesky krumlov photo diary

I have such a difficult time selecting the photos that go up on the blog. This is only a small portion of what I took in Cesky Krumlov. Ironically most of the photos I took of the city all look incredibly similar--and I knew that! Even as I was clicking away I knew I had about 50 other files exactly like the one I had just taken.

I had a problem, ok?

Walking around Cesky Krumlov felt a little like stepping into Disneyland. I had only two days in Cesky, but it quickly became one of my favorite stops on this trip. First of all, the town itself is tiny compared to the other cities I had previously visited--it only took about 15 minutes maximum to get from one side of town to the other--can you say, cute!!!! Secondly, the food was especially delicious (I tried mead for the first time), and just like Prague, super affordable as well. And third--just look at those rooftops--its just about the most charming little town I've ever seen! I couldn't help get all artsy-fartsy during my stay. It was a combination of the city's compactness, elevated slopes, and Baroque architectural style that made Cesky so fun to photograph (as previously stated) and even more fun to draw. (Will be scanned soon)

TRAVEL | prague photo diary

I don't remember much of what I did in Prague. Maybe it was because I was still hung up over Berlin? I'm not sure. When I think back to the city I get flashes of pubs, cobblestone roads, and dirt-cheap food. Oh yes, the food. At that point--after staying in cities such as Amsterdam and Paris--I could not believe I could spend less than 10 euros on a days worth of food. I frequent this great restaurant { Lokál } near the heart of town, and each time trying as many dishes as I could--which in turn earned me a 'this girl is crazy' look from the waiter and waitresses working. Unfortunately I have no food photos to declare as I basically inhaled everything the moment it touched down on my table since I had been eating incredibly poorly before entering the Czech Republic. But before you start thinking that all I did in Prague was stuff my face, I did in fact manage to snap some shots of the beautiful city before I left.
